On a recent Uber ride, I had the pleasure of meeting a young lady named Sahmara. Right away, I could tell she had a joyful and enthusiastic personality. Her name has a cool backstory too—it’s an adaptation of the character Samara from the spooky movie The Ring! But unlike the movie character, Sahmara is full of laughter and positive energy.

Her unique name has multiple meanings and origins across cultures, including Hebrew ("guardian," "protected by God"), Arabic ("night conversation," "evening entertainment," "reward," or "soft light"), and Latin ("winged seed," such as from an elm tree). Each meaning is rich and reflects an aspect of Sahmara’s character.
She was a graduate of Mariner High School, where she was part of the Junior ROTC program. After graduation, she trained as a pharmaceutical tech and has worked both in a doctor’s office and now at Walgreens. Sahmara demonstrates a responsible, hardworking attitude. She is willing to learn new skills. With her enthusiasm and determination, the sky’s the limit for her future.
Outside of work, Sahmara has some really fun hobbies. She loves reading, especially Harry Potter, but she doesn’t stop there—she also enjoys biographies and other types of literature. On top of that, she’s a huge LEGO fan! She has built some amazing sets from Fast and Furious, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Up, and even some of the floral LEGO kits. Her current project is building a beautiful bonsai tree out of LEGO bricks.
Sahmara is the kind of person who mixes fun with hard work. Whether she’s reading a great book, building a tricky LEGO set, or helping people at Walgreens, she does everything with enthusiasm. I’m excited to see where her future takes her. Please join me in welcoming her to Ubernamez—a place for sharing the stories of amazing people like her!
