Rory, Warren and Jason… Jet-Ski Adventure!

It was a normal day of driving until I picked up three guys with easy, familiar names—Rory, Warren, and Jason. Nothing unusual at first glance. But as soon as they started talking, I realized this ride was going to be anything but ordinary. These three friends had served together in the Navy and had stayed close ever since, the kind of friendship that doesn’t fade with time or distance. They had just flown in from California, but their real adventure had only just begun.

The day I met them, they had done something I could hardly believe—they rode jet skis all the way from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Myers. Not along the coast, but straight across the state of Florida through the intercoastal waterway! They described weaving along watching for changing conditions, and carefully timing their trip to pass through locks when they opened. It wasn’t just a ride; it was a challenge that took planning, patience, and a little bit of courage.
Along the way, they had a few heart-pounding moments. They told me about spotting alligators in the water—real ones, not from a distance on land, but close enough to remind them they were deep in wild Florida. Add to that the long hours on the water and exposed to the sun, and the need to carefully manage fuel—nearly $900 for the full trip there and back—and it became clear this wasn’t something just anyone would attempt. Still, they laughed about it like it was all part of the fun.
As I listened, I couldn’t help but think about how their names seemed to match their journey. Rory, whose Gaelic name means “red-haired one,” brought a spark of bold energy to the group, like a flame that keeps going no matter what. Warren, meaning a park keeper or guardian, fit perfectly as someone who looked out for the others, helping guide and protect the team along the way. And Jason, whose name means “healer,” carried a calm and steady presence, the kind of friend who keeps everyone grounded when things get tough. Together, they weren’t just three guys on jet skis—they were a team, each bringing something important to the adventure.
The next morning, they were planning to make the journey back to Fort Lauderdale, completing their incredible round trip. As I dropped them off, I couldn’t help but admire their sense of adventure and the bond they shared. Not everyone gets to say they crossed Florida on jet skis with their best friends. I told them their story deserved to be shared, and they agreed with a smile. So now, Rory, Warren, and Jason officially join the “Uber Namez Family”—not for unusual names, but for an unforgettable journey.
