Michael isn’t your average college student—he’s got a story that’s both inspiring and full of heart. I met him while driving Uber, and from the moment he got in the car, his energy and enthusiasm were contagious. Michael is currently a student at the University of Oregon, where he’s part of their track team. In high school, he was part of a 4x800 relay team that won a national title, with each of his splits coming in under two minutes—lightning fast! Now at Oregon, he’s pushing himself even harder, running the grueling 10,000 meters with a goal of hitting five-minute miles for over six miles straight. Originally from Naples, Maine, Michael’s talent and drive have taken him far from home.

Besides running, Michael is building real-world experience in sales. This summer he’s working in Lee County, Florida, with a team that sells solar and energy products. He was recruited by his high school friend Omar, who now leads the group. Michael is studying business and sports management and hopes to one day start his own business in sales. He’s already gaining valuable experience, learning how to connect with people, build trust, and offer solutions that help others save money and help the environment at the same time.
But Michael isn’t just focused on success—he’s also got a big heart, especially when it comes to animals. He currently has a Chihuahua and dreams of someday starting a nonprofit organization to rescue and care for neglected or at-risk animals, especially those facing euthanasia. He hopes to buy a piece of land where these animals can be given a second chance at life. “Every day, I try to count my blessings,” he said, “and thank God for His goodness.” With his talent, compassion, and determination, Michael is running toward a future that’s not just bright for him—but better for the world around him.
Although Michael’s name might not seem unique, he is my first ever high school national track and field champion, and a gifted young man with a desire to run life’s race with both character and compassion.
Please welcome Michael to Ubernamez!
