Jakyla… Future So Bright!

This past week, I picked up an enthusiastic passenger named Jakyla, and from the moment she stepped into the car, her positive energy filled the space. Her name has a special story—she was named after actress Kyla Pratt, the voice of Penny Proud from Disney’s The Proud Family. It felt fitting, because Jakyla carried the same confidence and warmth as the character who inspired her name.

In high school, Jakyla was a talented athlete. She ran track, played basketball, and stayed busy with several sports. Over time, she realized that balancing athletics and academics was pulling her focus in too many directions. With maturity beyond her years, she made the tough choice to step away from sports so she could give her full attention to her education. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it showed her determination to build a strong future.

Even as a teenager, Jakyla took initiative and responsibility seriously. She started working in fast food restaurants while still in high school and kept moving forward in the workforce. She now works at Panera Bread and has demonstrated uncommon dedication as an employee for the past three years years!

Kyla has Gaelic roots meaning slender or narrow, and the Hebrew name Kayla means laurel wreath, a symbol of victory and triumph. In American culture, the name simply means “lovely”.
