When I picked up a passenger named Donorris, I knew right away this ride would be different. His name was one I had never heard before, and he admitted he wasn’t even sure where it came from. Maybe it was a mix of “donor,” someone who gives, or “Norris,” meaning “from the north.” It may have derived from “Doris,” which means “gift” or “bounty”. Whatever the origin, the name fit him well—because Donorris seemed to have a giving heart. Born and raised in Fort Myers, he attended North Fort Myers High School, home of the Red Knights!

Back in high school, Donorris loved sports. Football and basketball were his favorites, and even though he was quiet, he had a competitive spirit. After graduating, he didn’t waste any time jumping into the working world. He spent many years in the food and restaurant business, where his friendly personality came in handy. These days he works at a local 7-Eleven as a cashier, greeting customers with a smile and helping people all day long.
Even though he enjoys people, Donorris isn’t a fan of big crowds. He prefers the calm company of one or two close friends and a quiet lifestyle. One of his biggest passions is reading—especially thriller and suspense books by Stephen King. His favorite? Pet Sematary.
Donorrs really enjoys spending time with a good book in his hands!
As we talked, he shared something a little more personal. When he was younger, he fell in with a rough crowd and ended up with several tattoos he now regrets. Sometimes people judge him before they even speak to him, and if he could afford to remove the tattoos, he probably would. But as he spoke, it was clear that his past didn’t define him—his kindness did. By the end of the ride, I felt grateful to have met Donorris. He may have a mysterious name, but one thing is certain: he’s a man with a generous spirit, a gentle heart, and a story worth telling.
Please welcome Donorris to the Ubernamez website!
