Bisher… Bearer of Good News!

I stopped by a car dealership recently just to look at some used cars, but I ended up meeting someone far more interesting than any vehicle on the lot. His name was Bisher, a name I had never heard before. Right away, it caught my attention. He greeted me with a warm smile and an easy friendliness that made it feel like we had known each other for years.

Bisher was born in Amman, Jordan, the son of a petroleum engineer. When he was about eight years old, his family moved to Maryland because of his father’s work. A few years later, they moved again, this time to Michigan, where he spent much of his school years. Moving from place to place could not have been easy, but Bisher seemed to take it all in stride, growing stronger and more adaptable with each change.

He has big dreams for his future. Bisher wants to work in naval engineering and is already taking steps toward that goal. He earned a scholarship to the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, and is currently completing his classes online. Along the way, he has worked hard at different jobs, including at an airport and now selling cars. It was at the airport where he met a young woman who is now his fiancée, and he looks forward to building a life with her. He believes in strong, traditional values—where the husband leads with responsibility and the wife fills the home with heart.

What stood out most to me was his love of learning. Bisher is the kind of person who wants to understand everything he can about the world. He enjoys working with his hands, especially when it comes to mechanics and cars, and he isn’t afraid to take on a challenge. More than that, he genuinely cares about people. You can hear it in the way he talks and see it in the way he treats others—with kindness, patience, gratefulness and respect.

His name, Bisher, means “bearer of good news,” and I couldn’t help but think how perfectly that fits him. He has a quiet confidence that life may change and people may come and go, but he trusts that God is always with him. Spending time with Bisher felt like receiving a bit of that “good news” myself. I left the dealership grateful for our conversations and hopeful for his future, praying that he finds success in his work, his relationships, and every step of the journey ahead.
