Anyelis… Artistic and Angelic!

One afternoon while driving for Uber, I picked up a passenger whose name immediately caught my attention: Anyelis. I had possibly heard the name before, but I had never seen it spelled quite like that. Naturally, my curiosity kicked in, and I asked her about it. Anyelis told me she was born in Puerto Rico, and originally her father had planned to name her Paola. However, around the time she was born there was a famous actress and model named Anyelis who her parents admired. And that is where she got her unique name!

The name Anyelis is considered a modern and creative variation of names like Angela or Angelica and became popular in Latin cultures. Because of that, it carries the meaning of “messenger” or “angel.” The name is meant to reflect beauty, kindness, and an angelic spirit. As we talked, Anyelis laughed and told me that many people actually call her Angel. Later, when I saw her working at her weekend job, I noticed that her name tag read “Angie.” It seemed like all the different versions of her name still carried that same warm and positive feeling.

Anyelis is a hardworking young woman. She works at an elder care facility, helping care for older adults who need extra support and kindness. She also works as a waitress st the same facility. On top of that, she works part-time at Dollar Tree on the weekends. Balancing two jobs can’t be easy, but she seems to approach her work with a positive attitude and a bright smile. It was clear to me that she is a diligent gal who takes pride in her independence and her work!

When she isn’t working, Anyelis loves to read. One of her favorite book series is Twilight, which she dives into whenever she has free time. She also has a creative side that she hopes to explore more in the future. Anyelis enjoys drawing and painting, and she dreams of possibly studying design someday so she can work in a field where she can use her artistic talents.

During our short ride together, I found Anyelis to be a very pleasant passenger. She had a big smile, an easy laugh, and a genuinely happy attitude that made the trip enjoyable. Meeting people like her is one of the best parts of driving. I was glad our paths crossed that day, and I truly wish Anyelis the very best as she continues to work hard and pursue her creative dreams.
