Bryan and Stephanie... "Something That We Do!"

On February 22, 2020 I had the pleasure of driving Bryan and Stephanie to their honeymoon suite on Fort Myers Beach!

Although I have been the driver for several newlyweds, this trip was a "first"!

This was the first time I had a couple dressed in their wedding attire and coming straight from their wedding reception.

Wow! How exciting for me to have a part in their celebration!

Bryan was born and raised in Indiana but moved to Minnesota sixteen years ago when he took a job working with the Minnesota Vikings. He was responsible for the social media and film department.

Stephanie is a Minnesota native and grew up near the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the state capital. She worked in the pharmacy department at Walmart for almost ten years and currently works with another pharmacy company focusing on custom service.

Bryan and Stephanie met about six years ago when a series of events brought them together at Cowboy Jack's Bar in Minneapolis. Bryan was with colleagues and Stephanie was with a group of gals enjoying a bachelorette party. Bryan quickly took notice of Stephanie's beautiful smile and joyful spirit. Once he worked up the nerve to approach her, he felt an immediate attraction. They exchanged phone numbers, and the rest is history!

They were married at Lover's Key on Estero Island at the same location where they were engaged almost two years ago. It was a fabulous wedding with almost one hundred guests!

During the trip I had an opportunity to share some of my own insights on marriage. (I do have 36 years of personal experience.)

I explained four types of "love" that, together, can lead to a wonderful and fulfilling marriage. Here they are:

1. Storge... a natural or instinctual affection, such as the love of a parent towards offspring, a nurse toward a patient, or an affection/caring for a pet.

2. Phileo... a companionable and relational affection, typically based on common interests and preferences. A brotherly love, where two enjoy one another's company.

3. Eros... a passionate and physical desire for another. Hot, sizzly, sexual love. The word erotic comes from eros.

4. Agape... a committed and sacrificial love that continues regardless of circumstances or reciprocity. It's a stubborn love that is not dependent on the words, actions, or attitudes of another. It is the basis for the traditional wedding vows... "for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, till death do us part."

As I write this blog I'm praying for Bryan and Stephanie, that they enjoy a wonderful life together, and realize the truth of Clint Black's famous country song... love is "Something That We Do".

Congratulations to Bryan and Stephanie!

Please welcome them to Ubernamez!
