Alma..."Get On Your Feet!"

This past week I had the joy of meeting Alma and her dog, Gabby.

Little did I realize, at the time, that my passenger was such a talented and celebrated Broadway actress.

Alma Cuervo was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. After extensively studying theater at a variety of institutions, including Yale, she moved to New York City.

She has been an actress, singer, and performer her entire life and is currently on tour with her 15th Broadway show, "On Your Feet".

This musical is the story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan, and will be performed at the Barbara B. Mann Arts Hall. Alma plays the role of Gloria's supportive, funny, and wise grandmother, Consuelo.

Alma has performed in both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions that include "Beauty and the Beast", "Ghetto", "Into the Woods", "Road Show" and "Wicked"!

Her unique name appears in various European languages and means one who is supportive, nurturing, and wise. The Spanish meaning is "soul".

These definitions seem to be well aligned with her character, and she was well cast for her current Broadway role!

Alma is an extremely friendly person and a genuine soul!
